IV. Didgeridoo Camp

at the Tourists´s House at Hidegkút

2018. 08. 16-19

And it’s the 4th act! We missed out one year, the camp had a rest, but we’re back! We started organizing this year’s camp fully charged with new energy! Just like in the years before, we’re inviting devoted followers of the didgeridoo to join us in enjoying a great variety of programs. Andrea Ferroni form Italy accepted our invitation. He’s going to hold two workshops and also entertain us with an ecxiting concert. We’ll also have several workshops held in Hungarian so hopefully players of all levels, from complete beginners to the more advanced learners, will have the opportunity to absorb as much knowledge as possible. The aim is to develop and learn from eachother! Naturally the usual programs will be held such as the vigil, the jam and the open stage, but we’re also introducing a new option, the didgeridoo karaoke. 🙂 We were offered some new alternative programs like yoga and chi-kung classes, massage, meditation and evening stories for the children to add to the variety of the camp. So all in all, we have everything ready for spending unforgetable days in the wonderful vibes of the depth of the forest.

Additional Information:
The camp is child friendly! To our great joy, there are children at our camp each year. They are having a great time in eachothers company. Kids bellow the age of 5 can join free of charge.

The camp is pet friendly! Please bear in mind though, that we’re going to stay in the wilderness, so wild forest animals may appear. The organizers do not take any responibility for conflicts between any animals. You must carry full responsibility for your pet.

This is an environmentally concious camp. Please use biodegradable cosmetics for cleaning. Rubbish will NOT be collected from the accomodation, so any rubbish you create will have to be cleaned, collected and removed from the premises by you. For this reason, please try to reduce the amunt of packaging that you bring to the camp site. There’s an endless supply of fresh water from the nearby spring, which also runs from the tap and the guesthouse.

Do not be discouraged if you don’t have an instrument! Just like the years before, Isoptera Didgeridoo will be with us again this year. The selection of instruments of which you may chose, will include original termite hollowed didgeridoos, several local luthiers instruments and Andrea Ferroni’s fiberglass ones. You’ll have the opportunity to try, use and buy many different type and quality didgeridoos.

Vigil:
Paying tribute to the indigenous people of Australia has always played a major role in Hungary’s didgeridoo history:

„The first Didgeridoo Vigil was held in March 2004. The basic idea was to maintain the didgeridoo sound for 12 hours without interruption, with the sound being passed on as a „baton”. Because the vigil is an ancient way of expressing respect, sympathy, dedication and compassion, we thought that this was the best way to salute the cultural heritage of this instrument. In the meantime we wanted to express our solidarity towards the native people of Australia, who have been oppressed and tortured for hundreds of years and still as of today, have not officially and legally been recognised as the First Australian Nation.
The first Vigil has since been followed by several other programs. Not only were there more and more didgeridoo players joining us at these gatherings, but also an ever growing number of people who were listening to the sound of our didgeridoo from dusk until dawn. The spirituality of the vigil is free of any belief or religion and is solely to represent and protect the ancient human values.”
Jana

As we are continuing the tradition that we started with the first Vigil in 2004, during Saturday night we will pass on the sound of the didgeridoo from sunset until sunrise. Should you just want to listen, relax, meditate, or sleep with the sound of the didgeridoo all around you, you are also most welcome!

The main purpose of the vigil is to show our respect to the Aboriginal culture. The sound of the didgeridoo will be in focus, and the sound will be kept alive for almost 10 hours. Should you have an other instrument with you, please respect this. Should you be under the influence of alcohol, please remember to not disturb this program.

The Community:
The past years have proved that the instrument is able to create a community. The 2015 „No Money Day” was such a great success, that basically throughout the whole camp new programs were being organized. Programmes included Gong meditation, Jew ́s Harp workshop, massage, mineral tour, tea ceremony, children ́s programs. Thank you, for sharing these with us. We are calling on everyone who has the strength to join and to add to the development of this community. Apart from the organized programs, we would like to give space and opportunity to initiatives of a similar nature once again.
