Andrea Ferroni
Turin, 1977.

Charmed by the didgeridoo, he begins his studies as a self-taught musician in 2002, therefore he follows courses and workshops hold by worldwide famous artists. In less than three years, he participates to the most prestigious European festivals in France, Switzerland, Germany, Portugal and Great Britain achieving great feedback from critics and reviews in specialized magazines. He establishes the ‘Scuola del Didgeridoo’ (‘Didgeridoo School’), where he starts teaching in 2003. He founds the cultural association ‘Yidaki’ first and “Arti e Tradizioni” then, to promote and organize didgeridoo events.

He publishes a book called: “The Didgeridoo discovery” and seven CDs named: „Windproject” (2003), „Noises & Voices” (2004), „Tribal Revolution” (2005) and “Breaking Through” (2006), „Windproject 2008” (2008), Ritratto (2008), Testimonianze (2011) and two compilations as association project. He personally builds his instruments, which are very appreciated in Italy and by many artists who play them live.

Anyway, Andrea is a very eclectic person. So he is not a didgeridoo player only. He works has CAE analyst in order to evaluate the effect of frequencies and resonances on complex systems, he is a brew and cheese maker (just for friends), he is even interested in arts in general,  interpersonal communication and relationships.

Advanced Didgeridoo Workshop 1

Main topic: “Staccato Sounds”

In this particular workshop Andrea Ferroni will be teaching about the sound dynamic. Particiants will explore how to use the dynamic to obtain pumped sounds maintaining fast rhythms. How to play “staccato” sounds, How to play clear and soft toots and Guidance for implementing these techniques in patterns.

Andrea teaches the importance of using as little air as possible in order to play extremely relaxed. He will explain and demonstrate how the different shapes of an instrument can produce a different kind of color tone with different playability. He will also teach how you can use these different shapes to highlight different technique.

Advanced Didgeridoo Workshop 2

Main topic: “The Didgeridoo Repertory”

What‘s the difference between players and musicians? A real musician as a repertory!
What‘s the difference between enjoy playing and get stuck bored playing every day the same stuff? A method that can help you creating new songs.
This workshop tells about one of the most important music topics: the music composition implementing even new techniques. Many players they attend my workshops are often enough skilled. Then, the first part of this experience will show some guidelines to aid the participants to exploit their own abilities in order to create new songs, a repertory and to fix their own tunes. Get more satisfaction from your playing! During the second part of the workshop we‘ll work on the following techniques: staccato sounds, toots, tongueing, wobbling, throat technique… with the objective to take these techniques as starting point for new compositions.
